Day 44 we made a second attempt to make it through the slides blocking PE-5N. While we couldn’t find any official road information, through trial and error we did find that a company called IIRSA NORTE had a contract to keep the road open. Their website had limited information but they had a Facebook page with comments that indicated the road was open.
Just when we arrived at our favorite stop another slide had blocked the road. We were told about a bypass and joined up with two locals to give it a try. Arriving at a river crossing we hired a truck to get us across but before we could get ferried across yet another slide closed the road even beyond the bypass.
Maybe tomorrow? Hit the lagoon for a boat ride. The captain wasn’t too engaged…
